title: Classic Synth Architectures The aim here is to give a rough description of how classic synths are arranged. Part of the idea is that, for example, if we take a 3 osc Minimoog patch, then Spire, having four oscillators, can roughly approximate the patch. This is a page where I'll accumulate notes as I go on. ## Minimoog three oscillators, saw, square, pulse. one noise. one 24dB ladder filter. ## Prophet 5 ## Nord Lead Two oscillators. ## Virus Three oscillators. Saw. Continuous morph from sine to square, with PWM, and 63 'spectral' waveforms. Subtractive, phase distortion, FM. The TI added wavetables and hypersaw. Two filters, parallel or series. ## Korg MS20 ## Korg Poly6 ## Korg Monopoly Early exmaple of paraphonic. The four oscillators have different settings, and in para mode, each note picks one of the oscillators that's ununsed.
