1 Granular and Formant Synthesis

• Virus has sets of internal waves
  • These can be used in Grain Simple, Grain Complex, Forman Simple, and Formant Complex.
• Granular Synthesis breaks sounds into small chunks
• Formant affects freq spectrum like vowels
• Wave Index modulation via e.g. modwheel or LFO
• F Spread and F Shift

2 Split Filter

• Send 1st osc to first filter, second osc to second filter.
  • Select split routing

3 Noise Modulation

• Noise colour.
• Useful for effects like sea and wind.
• Noise can be filtered.

4 Velocity and ADSR

• Velocity to e.g. filter
• ADSR controlling filter like e.g. pluck or pad
• Can make attack shorter for higher velocity

5 FX Section

• Phaser: modulate freq with modwh or lfo
• We can modulate the mix level with phaser and chorus
• Delay: types like tape delay

6 Pitch Modulation by Internal Sequencer

• Arp mode: matrix
• Filter: split
• Matrix: Arp → Osc 1 pitch
• LFO1+LFO → Osc 2 pitch

7 OSC3 and Subosc

• Osc3 and sub vol can be modulated

8 LFO Waveforms

• Square waveform gives on/off gating
